I went to the CS department today to have my application for candidacy for graduation(or whatever you call that form to inform them that you are going to take your comprehensive exam or defend your thesis) signed. When I entered the department I was surprised that there is a small "handaan". It turned out that TJ just defended his thesis.

I went to the table to congratulate him(and be invited to eat). I gave the form to our department chairman and he signed it while I get some food. While I was eating he asked me to choose the subjects I want. I need to choose five subjects. I thought we are going to talk about it on the next day. Last time he told me to schedule a meeting with him. Since he asked then and there I just made decisions on the fly. I will take the exam in three days on the third week of August. I will take my exams on two networking subjects on Monday, a software engineering and computer security subjects on Tuesday and on Friday I will take the exam on advanced algorithm.

The schedule I chose was quite weird. I do have a strange rationale for my decisions. Advanced networks is quite hard so I placed it on Monday. At least I am quite fresh on that day.  I placed the easiest on Tuesday(software engineering). I am quite strong on that subject. I just need to worry about the computer security subject. The hardest is the advanced algorithm class. I placed it on Friday so in case that I fail, it will be the only subject I have to worry about.

I wish I can go back to my GC(grade conscious) mode while studying for the exams. I am not that motivated enough to study after I graduated. I just took up my masters so I can stay longer in UP while working for our registration system. It was some sort of an excuse to my parents. They are always asking me why I was working in the academe when I can earn much outside. Actually, I earned more(if I work the same hours) while I was in UP.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to have good grades. It has a lot of benefits especially when you are looking for a job. The only problem is there a lot of GC students who cannot do it with class.

The bidding of our servers failed. With the atrocious bidding process that we have I doubt if we could deploy our web application in time.
