Many organisations and development teams with little java experience rely on System.out.println for years until they realise that there is a better way to log. They then move to Log4j and get all the benefits that a real logging framework gives. System.out.println becomes (in many cases rightly) a maligned code snippet, and the team hunt down and destroy its use with extreme prejudice. It's easy to forget though that System.out and System.err actually do have their correct uses, and the scenario described here (usage message for a command line app) is one of them. Definitely agree.
